Where Does Coolify Store Apps and Data?
Coolify host data root and Docker volumes for databases, apps, backups, and services on Linux servers.
Last updated
Coolify keeps host files under /data/coolify with databases in Docker volumes beside them. The data root holds ssh keys, application checkouts, service files, and scheduled backups. That folder is the first place to check when disk fills.
Settings and secrets live in the .env file next to docker-compose.yml. Postgres and Redis keep their own named volumes. Back up the data root, the database volumes, and the env file together. Source checkouts without the database give you code with no projects.
Where Coolify stores this, by platform
/data/coolify
Host root with ssh, applications, databases, backups, and services subfolders. Check backups here first for built in archives. Copy with Coolify services stopped for consistency.
.env (Coolify compose dir)
Holds secrets, domain, and version pins for the compose stack. Keep a copy off the server. Rebuilding with fresh secrets breaks existing service passwords.
Frequently asked questions
what do i back up for a Coolify move
Back up /data/coolify with database dumps for Postgres and app source checkouts. The data root holds ssh keys, app files, and service data. The .env file beside compose holds secrets.
where are Coolify volumes on the host
Run docker volume ls to list coolify volumes, then inspect for mountpoints. App data also sits directly under /data/coolify/applications and databases. Exact names follow the compose project.
