Where Does CDisplayEx Store Settings and Comics?
CDisplayEx desktop registry config and mobile locations, library and downloads.
Last updated
CDisplayEx splits by platform. The Windows desktop app keeps its configuration in the registry, not a file: interface, resize algorithm, cache pages and scroll behavior all live under the CDisplay key. Comics themselves stay wherever you filed them.
The mobile app works the opposite way with Locations. Internal storage, SD cards, USB keys, Samba shares, Kavita, Komga and OPDS feeds are added as browsable locations, optionally pinned to the library for series grouping and search. Downloads from remote locations land in the private Downloads location unless you retarget it with the folder button.
Where CDisplayEx stores this, by platform
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\CDisplay
Desktop config in the registry (delete this key when the app launches invisible after corruption, then reinstall). Use the 64 bit build for Explorer comic thumbnails. Comics remain in your own folders.
Locations you added (Downloads location is private by default)
Add storage, Samba, Kavita, Komga or OPDS as locations; tick Add to Library for series grouping and file monitoring on local files. Exported pages go to Pictures/CDisplayEx. Premium unlocks streaming and extra languages.
Frequently asked questions
CDisplayEx opens blank on Windows, how do I fix it
Close it, delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\CDisplay in regedit, and reinstall. Corruption there survives reinstalls, which is why wiping and reinstalling alone never helps.
where do CDisplayEx mobile downloads go
Into the Downloads location, private to the app by default. Retarget it with the yellow folder button to storage or SD card. Remote shares stream without downloading in Premium; free tier copies first.
