Where Does Cheogram Store Chats and Media?
Where Cheogram keeps media and private chat data on Android, and why the .ceb backup matters more than the folders.
Last updated
Cheogram splits Android storage two ways. Media lands in public folders with a Cheogram subfolder that any gallery or Files app can see. Accounts, history and keys sit in private app storage that needs root to browse.
That split makes folder copies a partial backup at best. The in app .ceb export bundles accounts plus media with the right ownership tags. Use it for migration instead of dragging folders across. Scoped storage tags each file with its owner package, which is why plain copies arrive without gallery entries on the new phone.

/storage/emulated/0/Pictures/Cheogram
User visible media root with Cheogram subfolders under Pictures, Movies, Downloads and Documents. Private accounts and history sit in app internal storage and need the in app .ceb backup to move.
Frequently asked questions
How do I move Cheogram chats to a new phone?
Open the backup screen in Cheogram settings and create a .ceb file with media included. Folder copies lose ownership metadata under scoped storage, so galleries come back empty. The .ceb export plus its restore script keeps that metadata intact.
Where is my Cheogram backup file?
The system file picker asks where to write it each time, so there is no fixed path. Search storage for .ceb files after exporting. Keep that file somewhere off the phone, since on device copies die with the device.
