Where Does Moxxy Store Chats and Media?
Where Moxxy keeps accounts and media on Android, and why server history beats file copies for moves.
Last updated
Moxxy is an experimental XMPP client for Android built with Flutter. Accounts, history and keys sit in private internal storage under its v2 package name. That tree needs root to browse and never survives uninstalls.
Media you deliberately saved appears separately in shared storage where galleries can see it. That split makes in app exports and server archives the real backup story. Note the package name carefully since the older v1 app used a different one. Stickers and voice notes follow the same split: private by default, shared only when saved out.

Frequently asked questions
How do I move Moxxy chats to a new phone?
Re login on the new phone and let the server resend history through message archives. Private app storage does not transplant without root, and the package name must match exactly. Save important media first through the in app share sheet.
Where are my Moxxy downloads in the gallery?
Only files you explicitly saved or shared out appear in shared storage. Private history, keys and database rows stay in internal app storage. Check the gallery and Files app for saved copies before wiping the old device.
