Where Does Chiaki Store Consoles and Settings?

Chiaki keeps consoles and keys in Chiaki.conf under the Qt config dir, with Flatpak builds namespaced per app ID.

Last updated

Chiaki stores everything in one INI style file: console host sections with addresses and PSN IDs, registration keys, and stream quality presets. Desktop builds keep it in the platform Qt config location, which on Linux is .config/Chiaki. Flatpak builds namespace it under .var/app per app ID.

The file holds sensitive pairing secrets, so share it with nobody. For moves, the in app export and import beats raw copying, since it normalizes profile quirks between Chiaki and chiaki-ng. The Switch homebrew port uses its own chiaki.conf next to the binary instead.

Where Chiaki stores this, by platform

Linux
~/.config/Chiaki/Chiaki.conf

Holds registered hosts, rp keys, and quality presets. Back it up before reinstalls; it is the only copy of console pairings.

Linux
~/.var/app/<appid>/config/Chiaki/Chiaki.conf

Same file role per Flatpak ID. Copy between IDs to migrate from Chiaki to chiaki-ng without re registering the console.

Frequently asked questions

How do I migrate Chiaki settings to chiaki-ng?

Copy Chiaki.conf from the old app config dir to the new one. Console registrations and stream settings travel in that one file.

Is there a built in settings backup?

Use the in app export to write an .ini backup with hosts, mappings, and settings. Import it on the new machine instead of hand copying internals.

Remote Play rejects my PIN. What resets pairing?

Delete the rp key lines from the conf and reconnect to force a fresh PIN prompt. The file otherwise keeps working silently with stale keys.
