Where Does CHITUBOX Store Profiles and Config?

CHITUBOX keeps printer profiles and settings in a versioned config folder. Exact paths on Windows and Linux, plus cache clearing.

Last updated

CHITUBOX stores machine profiles, resin parameters and support settings in a config folder named after the major version, like chitubox2_0. Your project files (.chitubox) are separate and live wherever you save them. Mixing this up is why reinstalls seem to eat profiles.

The fastest way in is from inside the app: the menu holds an Open Config Path entry that jumps straight there. Close CHITUBOX before touching anything. For a misbehaving install, back up the Conf subfolder, then remove the versioned folders and relaunch to rebuild them clean.

Where ChiTuBox stores this, by platform

Windows
C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Local\chitubox2_0\Conf

Printing configuration for CHITUBOX Basic. CHITUBOX Pro uses %LOCALAPPDATA%\CHITUBOX Pro instead, with machine settings inside a numbered subfolder. Back up before clearing cache.

Linux
~/.local/share/chitubox2_0/Conf

Same versioned layout as Windows under the XDG data root. The folder number follows the major release, so check for a newer sibling after upgrading.

Frequently asked questions

How do I back up my CHITUBOX profiles?

With CHITUBOX closed, copy the Conf folder above to safe storage. That holds printer, resin and support settings. Your .chitubox project files need a separate backup since they live wherever you saved them.

CHITUBOX acts broken after an update, what helps?

Back up Conf first, then delete the chitubox2_0 and chituboxResource folders from %LOCALAPPDATA% with the app closed. Relaunching rebuilds them. Upload slicing settings to the cloud first if you use CHITUBOX Pro.
