Where Does Cinny Desktop Store Session Data?
Where the Cinny desktop app keeps session data on Windows, Mac and Linux, and how it differs from the web app.
Last updated
Cinny runs in two forms with different storage. The web app keeps login state inside the browser. The desktop app is a Tauri wrapper that keeps its own data folder outside the browser.
That folder name follows the Tauri identifier rather than a friendly app name. Deleting it is the reliable way to force a clean login. The unofficial Electron wrapper uses a different path, so confirm you run the official desktop build first. Wiping the folder forces a clean login, which also clears stuck crypto sessions that a plain logout leaves behind.
Where Cinny stores this, by platform
C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\in.cinny.app
Official Tauri desktop data dir. Quit the app before deleting it for a clean logout. The unofficial Electron fork uses a different folder name.
~/Library/Application Support/in.cinny.app
Same Tauri identifier folder as Windows. Web app sessions instead live in browser IndexedDB and are unaffected by deleting this.
~/.local/share/in.cinny.app
Same identifier under XDG data home. Falls back to .local share when the XDG variable is unset. Quit the app before wiping it.
Frequently asked questions
Is Cinny web login stored in the same place as desktop?
Web sessions live in browser storage tied to the site origin. Desktop sessions live in the Tauri app data folder for your OS. Clearing browser data never touches the desktop app, and deleting the desktop folder never touches the browser.
How do I fully log out and wipe Cinny desktop?
Quit Cinny completely, then delete the in.cinny.app folder for your OS. Restarting creates a fresh session that asks for login again. This wipes local cache and keys, so export anything unsent first.
