Where Are Civilization VII Save Files Located?
Where Civilization VII keeps single player saves under My Games, and the missing folder bug at launch.
Last updated
Civilization VII stores single player saves in Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization VII\Saves\Single, with multiplayer, hotseat and benchmark trees beside it. Logs live separately under %LOCALAPPDATA%\Firaxis, which is where crash debugging starts.
OneDrive users get the familiar split: saves may land under OneDrive\Documents while guides quote the local tree. Search the drive for Civ7Save files when the folders disagree; the extension is distinctive enough to settle it in seconds.
Where Civilization VII stores this, by platform
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization VII\Saves\Single
Paste %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization VII\Saves\Single into Explorer. Check the OneDrive mirror if empty. Mods and Hall of Fame data live under %LOCALAPPDATA%\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization VII.
Frequently asked questions
Civ 7 will not save locally. How do I fix it?
Create Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization VII\Saves\Single by hand, load an online save, then save locally. Early builds failed to create the folder, so local saves silently went nowhere until the path existed. Later patches fixed most cases, but the manual folder still rescues stragglers.
How do I load an older autosave in Civ 7?
Old autosaves rotate into auto\prev beside the live auto folder instead of deleting. Raid prev for the turn before the disaster, copy it up one level, and load it. Autosave count and frequency tune in UserOptions, not in game.
