Where Does DataSpell Store Settings and Caches?
DataSpell versioned config, system caches and plugins folders on every desktop OS.
Last updated
DataSpell follows the standard JetBrains layout. A versioned folder holds config with plugins inside it. A second versioned tree holds caches and system files. Paths are overridable through IDE properties.
The product sunset in 2026 does not move these paths. Existing installs keep working from the same folders. Point a file backup at the config tree, not the cache tree.
Where DataSpell stores this, by platform
%AppData%\JetBrains\DataSpell2025.3
Versioned config with plugins subfolder. Caches live in the LocalAppData twin. Override via IDE properties. Folder name carries the release number.
~/Library/Application Support/JetBrains/DataSpell2025.3
Same versioned split under macOS roots. Config in Application Support, caches in Caches.
~/.config/JetBrains/DataSpell2025.3
Same versioned split under XDG dirs. Config in config home, caches in cache home, plugins data in local share.
Frequently asked questions
How do I migrate DataSpell?
Copy the versioned config folder with the IDE closed. Caches can rebuild, so they are optional bulk. Restoring means putting the config back under the same version number and launching once.
Why are there several DataSpell folders?
Folders carry the release number, so 2025.3 and 2026.1 keep separate trees. Settings do not hop versions by themselves. Export through File and Manage IDE Settings or copy between versioned folders deliberately.
