Where Does Aqua Store Settings and Runners?

Where the Aqua test IDE keeps projects, runners and settings on desktop for backup and moves.

Last updated

Aqua follows the standard JetBrains layout: per version settings, runners and plugins under the vendor folder with projects cloned elsewhere. Major versions keep separate homes that migrate on first launch.

Copy the live version folder with Aqua closed for migration; projects move as plain folders apart. Caches rebuild on demand, so leave them out of small backups. Confirm the versioned folder name before scripting.

Where Aqua stores this, by platform

Windows
%APPDATA%\JetBrains\Aqua

Runners and settings in the versioned JetBrains folder with projects elsewhere. Close Aqua before copying. Confirm the version folder before scripting.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/JetBrains/Aqua

Same versioned layout under Application Support on Mac. Use Finder Go to Folder to reach it. Caches rebuild on demand after clearing.

Linux
~/.config/JetBrains/Aqua

Same versioned layout under home config on Linux. Respects standard home paths. Major versions keep separate homes.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move Aqua to a new computer?

Keep projects where they are and copy the JetBrains app data folder with Aqua closed. Runners and settings travel with the folder. Repos move as plain folders with remotes intact.

Aqua IDE, Aqua Mail or Aqua Map?

This post covers the Aqua test automation IDE, not Aqua Mail or Aqua Map with similar names. Search with JetBrains to land right. Different vendors, different storage.
