Where Does Dragon City Save Your Dragons and Islands?
Dragons, habitats and gems stay on Socialpoint's servers through your Facebook login. The app folder only caches art and sounds.
Last updated
Dragon City started life inside Facebook and still treats the platform as home base. Your islands, dragons, gems and event progress live on Socialpoint's servers, and the login that reaches them is Facebook in the overwhelming majority of cases. On phones, the app holds cached sprites, animations and audio, plus a session that points at whichever Facebook profile is connected. Delete the app and the islands wait safely for the next sign-in.
That design makes device moves painless when the game is connected, and painful when it is not. A guest island is only as durable as the app install. Since Dragon City has run for well over a decade, plenty of players carry islands older than the phones they play them on, and that only keeps working because the Facebook login stayed the same the entire time. Connect early and check the profile before binding, because Facebook accounts cannot be swapped later.
Where Dragon City stores this, by platform
/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/es.socialpoint.DragonCity
Cached dragon sprites, habitat art and sounds, plus the Facebook session. Hidden from file managers on Android 11 and later. Clearing it signs you out, and the islands reload from the servers at the next Facebook sign-in.
/var/mobile/Containers/Data/Application/<guid>/Documents
Per-install container whose GUID changes on every reinstall and stays locked away without a jailbreak. Full backups copy it, but the Facebook login is what actually restores your islands.
Frequently asked questions
How do I move Dragon City to a new phone?
Connect the game to Facebook in settings, then install it on the new device and sign in with the same profile. The game asks whether to load the saved islands, and everything comes back from Socialpoint's servers.
Can I connect Facebook to an island I already started as a guest?
Yes, from the settings menu, but treat the connection as permanent. Dragon City cannot switch an island to a different Facebook profile later, and connecting to a profile that already has an island loads that island instead of your guest progress.
Is the Dragon City folder safe to delete?
Once Facebook is connected, yes. The folder is a cache of sprites and sounds that the game rebuilds on demand, and your dragons never lived there. If the game is still a guest island, back the save up with a Facebook login before touching anything.
