Where Does Fate/Grand Order Store Account Data?

Servants, quartz and story progress live on the game's servers. A transfer code is the only way to carry them to a new device safely.

Last updated

Fate/Grand Order keeps everything that matters on its servers: your servant roster, quartz, materials and story progress. The app on your phone holds a cache of downloaded assets and a session that signs you into that server-side account. Lose the session without a backup and you are locked out, even though the data still exists somewhere in Aniplex's datacenter. There is no local save file to copy, and hacking around in the folders will not find one.

That is why the transfer code system carries so much weight. Issuing a code and password from the game menu is the official way to move an account or keep it safe, and codes are single use with a limited shelf life. Screenshot the pair, store it somewhere you trust, and reissue a fresh code after every device move. The players who learn this during a phone upgrade usually learn it the hard way.

Where Fate/Grand Order stores this, by platform

Android
/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.aniplex.fategrandorder.en

Global release package holding downloaded assets and session data. The Japanese release uses com.aniplex.fategrandorder and other regions use similar Aniplex packages. Clearing it logs you out, so have a transfer code ready first.

iOS
/var/mobile/Containers/Data/Application/<guid>/Documents

Per-install container with a GUID that changes on every reinstall. The asset cache inside is useless for account recovery. The transfer code is the real safety net on iOS.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move Fate/Grand Order to a new phone?

Issue a transfer code and password from the account menu on the old device, write both down, then enter them on the new device at the start screen. The code is single use and expires, so reissue a fresh one on the new device right away.

I lost my transfer code and my phone died. Can support get my account back?

Sometimes. Support asks for purchase receipts, the account's basic details and its creation date, and recovery is not guaranteed. Keeping a fresh transfer code saved off device, plus receipts, gives you the best odds of never needing this route.

Is it safe to clear the FGO cache?

Yes. The game has its own cache clearing option, and the folder contents are downloaded assets that re-fetch on demand. Clearing never touches the server account, though it does mean a longer first load and another round of downloads.
