Where Are Dyson Sphere Program Save Files Located?

DSP files factory saves in Documents with no cloud sync, plus a config file trick for relocating them.

Last updated

Youthcat keeps saves local and enormous. Factory files live in Documents under the game name, growing with every placed belt. Crash logs live apart in LocalLow, overwritten on each launch.

No cloud sync exists by design rather than omission: interrupted uploads corrupt multi hundred megabyte saves. The official FAQ says so plainly and recommends manual backups. A path.txt override in the install folder relocates saves for full drives.

Where Dyson Sphere Program stores this, by platform

Windows
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Dyson Sphere Program\Save

One file per factory, huge by save standards. No cloud sync exists, so copy generations elsewhere on a schedule. Logs live separately in LocalLow.

Linux
~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1366540/pfx/

Steam Play prefix for app 1366540 with the same tree inside. Copy saves out before tinkering since no cloud copy exists.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move saves off a full drive?

Edit Config/path.txt in the game install folder with the new path, one line, forward slashes. Copy existing saves across and restart. Reapply after game updates, which reset the file.

Why is there no Steam Cloud support?

Saves are huge and interrupts corrupt them, so the developers ship no cloud sync at all. Manual copies on your own schedule are the entire backup story. Keep several generations: bit flips kill single copies.
