Where Does Duplicacy Web Edition Store Settings?

Duplicacy Web Edition settings folder on Windows, macOS, and Linux, including the service install difference.

Last updated

Duplicacy Web Edition keeps schedules, credentials, and logs in a .duplicacy-web folder in the user profile. On Linux that is ~/.duplicacy-web. A normal Windows install uses C:\Users\you\.duplicacy-web with CLI binaries under its bin subfolder.

Service installs move the folder. When Duplicacy runs as a Windows service for all users, settings live under C:\ProgramData\.duplicacy-web instead. The web UI listens on localhost:3875 by default. Back up the whole folder to preserve storages, schedules, and the master encryption password reference.

Where Duplicacy stores this, by platform

Windows
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\.duplicacy-web

Per user install. Repositories for each backup ID sit under repositories/localhost with their own preferences files. Run CLI commands from those folders to reuse GUI settings.

Windows
C:\ProgramData\.duplicacy-web

Used when installed as a service for all users. Uninstall the service with the -uninstall-service flag before deleting it. Logs and settings share this root.

Linux
~/.duplicacy-web

Follows the home directory on each platform. macOS uses ~/.duplicacy-web as well. The bin subfolder holds versioned CLI executables downloaded by the web UI.

Frequently asked questions

how do i move Duplicacy Web Edition to another computer

Copy the whole .duplicacy-web folder to the same path on the new machine, keeping backup paths identical. CLI binaries sit under bin inside it, and each backup set keeps a preferences file under repositories.

where does the Duplicacy local download cache live

Open the Setting page and change the temporary directory. The default cache shares the config folder and can grow large with many backups. Moving it to a bigger drive avoids filling the system disk.
