Where Does Earthion Store Settings and Progress?
Earthion has no save files at all: progress between runs travels by password, and the only file on disk is options.bin in Saved Games.

Earthion is a modern game wearing a 30-year-old design, and nothing shows that like its save system. There are no restore points, no autosaves, no slots. Upgrades between playthroughs are retained or removed through passwords the game displays, and keeping that code safe is the entire save mechanism.
The one file it does write is %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Earthion\<account ID>\options.bin, holding display and audio preferences. Steam Cloud syncs it, so your options follow you between machines even though your progress technically does not live anywhere at all.
Where Earthion stores this, by platform
%USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\Earthion
The account ID subfolder holds options.bin, the only file the game writes. There is no save data folder to back up, because the game does not have save files; the password the game shows is the save.
~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/3597580/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Saved Games/Earthion
The Windows build through Proton on Linux and Steam Deck, inside the prefix for app ID 3597580. Saved Games sits directly under the steamuser folder rather than under AppData.
Frequently asked questions
Where are my Earthion save files?
There are none in the conventional sense. The game uses a password system, so upgrades that carry between runs exist as codes rather than files. Note the code before quitting, and you have effectively made the save.
What is options.bin?
The only file Earthion writes: display, audio, and control settings in your Saved Games folder under the account ID. Deleting it resets options, which is the standard fix when a display change leaves the game unreadable.
With no save files, why does Steam Cloud matter for Earthion?
It syncs options.bin, so settings follow your account instead of your machine. It cannot sync anything else, because there is nothing else. Treat the passwords the way an earlier generation did: write them down.
