Where Are Elden Ring Nightreign Save Files Located?

Nightreign save file location on PC, and why it sits in a different folder than the original Elden Ring.

Last updated

Nightreign keeps its PC save in %APPDATA%\Nightreign, inside a subfolder named after your numeric Steam ID. The file itself is called NR0000.sl2, and it holds every expedition and character together in one place.

Steam Cloud sync is on, so a local copy matters most when sync itself goes wrong. If progress looks rolled back, check for a sync conflict before playing on, since continuing quietly overwrites the cloud copy. And do not confuse this folder with the original Elden Ring, which saves under %APPDATA%\EldenRing instead.

Where Elden Ring Nightreign stores this, by platform

Windows
%APPDATA%\Nightreign\[Steam-ID]\NR0000.sl2

Paste %APPDATA%\Nightreign into the Explorer address bar to jump straight there. [Steam-ID] is your numeric Steam account ID. Graphics options sit next to it in GraphicsConfig.xml. There is no native Linux or Mac build; on Steam Deck the same layout applies inside the Proton prefix for AppID 2622380.

Frequently asked questions

Why can't I find my Nightreign save in the Elden Ring folder?

Because it is never there. Nightreign writes NR0000.sl2 under %APPDATA%\Nightreign, while the original game writes ER0000.sl2 under %APPDATA%\EldenRing. The two games never share saves, so back up the numbered folder for the right game.

Does Steam Cloud back up my Nightreign save?

Yes, Cloud sync covers AppID 2622380. If a fresh install pulls a stale copy, put your backed up numbered folder back into %APPDATA%\Nightreign before launching, then let Steam sync the newer files upward.
