Elden Ring keeps its saves the way FromSoftware has done it since Dark Souls: in AppData\Roaming, nowhere near the game's install folder. Inside sits a folder named with your SteamID64, and inside that the actual save, ER0000.sl2, alongside the game's own backup copy, ER0000.sl2.bak. Copying that single numbered folder is a complete backup.
On Linux and Steam Deck the same structure exists, but inside the Proton prefix built for the game under app ID 1245620. The PC version is a Steam release only, so this path covers every PC copy.

Paste %appdata% into the Run dialog (Win+R). [SteamID64] is a 17-digit folder name that is the same for you on every machine, and ER0000.sl2.bak sits beside the save. GraphicsConfig.xml and Steam's steam_autocloud.vdf are one level up in the EldenRing folder. Back up the whole numbered folder.

This is a Windows-style path inside the Proton prefix, and 1245620 is Elden Ring's Steam app ID. Some installs use ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/... instead of ~/.local/share/Steam, and SteamOS defaults to the same layout under /home/deck. If you have several Steam library folders, the prefix lives in the one the game is installed to.
