Where Does En Croissant Store Databases?

Where En Croissant keeps SQLite game databases, engines and settings.

Last updated

En Croissant stores everything in standard per-OS app data: Roaming en-croissant on Windows, its bundle support folder on macOS, ~/.config/en-croissant on Linux. Game collections live as .db3 SQLite files with engines and settings beside them.

The databases page shows each file location and index state per database. Copy .db3 files for migration and keep descriptive names, since the app happily holds many side by side.

Where En Croissant stores this, by platform

Windows
%APPDATA%\en-croissant\

Holds .db3 game databases, engine configs and settings. Open the live folder from the Databases page folder icon. Copy databases with the app closed for backups.

Linux
~/.config/en-croissant/

Same layout under XDG config home on Linux. Account databases import from Lichess and Chess.com into this tree. macOS uses ~/Library/Application Support/com.encroissant.app instead.

Frequently asked questions

How do I back up En Croissant databases?

Click the folder icon next to Databases in the app to open the storage directory, then copy the .db3 files out. The FAQ documents exactly this as the backup flow for annotated custom databases.

Where do imported Lichess games go?

They land as one SQLite database per account in the Databases directory after OAuth import. Games stay local only; tokens sit in browser storage, so reconnecting accounts on a new machine is expected.
