Where Does FastCopy Store Its Settings?

Where FastCopy keeps its INI settings, job history and portable config on Windows, and how to move machines.

Last updated

FastCopy is portable first. Settings live in a single FastCopy2.ini file, usually beside the executable. That design makes backup a one file copy. Filters, buffer sizes and job history all sit in that INI.

Installed copies can keep the INI under AppData instead. The rule is simple: beside the exe wins when present. Copy with the program closed so the last job state flushes to disk, then verify the restored copy opens with your presets.

Where FastCopy stores this, by platform

Windows
C:\Program Files\FastCopy\FastCopy2.ini

Single INI with options, filters and history. Portable installs keep it beside the exe. Close FastCopy before copying so the file is not mid-write.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move FastCopy settings to another PC?

Copy FastCopy2.ini with the program closed. Filters, buffer sizes and history travel with that one file. Put it beside the exe on the new machine for portable mode.

Why is there no FastCopy2.ini beside the exe?

Portable use keeps FastCopy2.ini beside FastCopy.exe. Installed use can keep it under AppData. Check beside the exe first; if it is not there, check the Roaming tree.
