Where Does FastFlix Store Config and Logs?

FastFlix keeps fastflix.json, queue state and per-encode logs under Roaming AppData on Windows, beside temp folders.

Last updated

FastFlix records which config file is active each time it starts. An installed copy on Windows uses Roaming AppData, with fastflix.json at the root and queue data plus temp encode folders beside it. The Help menu also offers an Open Log Directory entry, and the startup lines there name the live file.

Portable win64 builds behave differently. They keep settings beside the exe instead of AppData, so two copies can disagree about which file matters. Check the startup log before backing up or migrating. Copy fastflix.json with the queue file while the app is closed, and keep the temp root consistent so old log folders still line up.

Where FastFlix stores this, by platform

Windows
%APPDATA%\FastFlix\fastflix.json

Live config plus queue.yaml and temp encode dirs. Portable builds use the exe dir instead; the startup log names the active file.

Frequently asked questions

How do I migrate FastFlix settings?

Copy fastflix.json plus queue.yaml with FastFlix closed. Point the new copy at the same temp root. Encoder binaries (ffmpeg, mkvmerge) reinstall separately; only the JSON travels.

Where are FastFlix encode logs?

Open Help then Open Log Directory inside the app. Each encode gets a temp folder with encoder_output logs. The startup line prints which config file is live, useful when portable and installed copies coexist.
