Where Does Hybrid Store Settings and Profiles?

Hybrid stores settings under AppData on Windows and ~/.hybrid on Linux and Mac, overridable via misc.ini.

Last updated

Hybrid separates the binary from its settings. Defaults go to a per user folder on each OS. A small misc.ini beside the exe can redirect everything elsewhere for portable use. The split keeps installs replaceable while presets survive across updates. Check the log header for the active path when profiles seem to vanish.

Profiles, custom fonts and tool configs accumulate there over time. Copy the whole folder with Hybrid closed to migrate. Version upgrades reuse it automatically unless you point settingPath somewhere new. Global profiles hold every tab at once for full reuse, while single section profiles cover parts. Back the folder up as one unit so both kinds travel together.

Where Hybrid stores this, by platform

Windows
C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\hybrid

Default settings, profiles and fonts cache. Override with settingPath in misc.ini next to Hybrid.exe. Check the log header for current settings path when in doubt.

macOS
~/.hybrid

Default settings path on Mac. misc.ini belongs inside Hybrid.app next to the binary, or in ~/.hybrid. Confirm via the startup log if profiles seem missing.

Linux
~/.hybrid

Default on most distros. Newer builds also search ~/.config/hybrid for misc.ini. Fonts cache sits in a fonts subfolder here.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make Hybrid portable?

Create a misc.ini next to the binary starting with [General] and add settingPath with your target folder. Restart Hybrid. The new folder collects profiles, fonts cache and temp configs from then on.

What is the difference between Hybrid profiles and global profiles?

Global profiles save every tab at once and suit full workflow reuse. Regular profiles cover single sections. Both live under the settings path above, so back that folder up together.
