Where Does Feather Wallet Store Wallets on PC?

Feather Monero wallets and settings on Windows, macOS and Linux for safe backups.

Last updated

Feather keeps wallet files where you saved them, often Documents Monero, plus settings in per OS app data. Keys never leave disk unless you copy them.

Backing up means copying .keys plus the cache, or better the seed phrase on paper. Exact wallet dir follows your choice at creation, so check the open dialog when unsure.

Where Feather Wallet stores this, by platform

Windows
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Monero\wallets\

Default wallet home (.keys plus cache). Settings sit in %APPDATA%\Feather\. Copy .keys files encrypted; seeds on paper beat any file copy for recovery.

macOS
~/Documents/Monero/wallets/

Same default wallet home. Settings in ~/Library/Application Support/Feather/. Use Go to Folder in Finder. Keep permissions tight on wallet files.

Linux
~/Documents/Monero/wallets/

Same default home. Settings often in ~/.config/Feather/. Many users relocate wallets to encrypted volumes; check File > Open for the live path.

Frequently asked questions

Which Feather files do I back up?

The .keys files plus wallet cache in the folder above, stored encrypted. The seed phrase matters more than any file. Test restore on a spare profile before wiping.

Where are Feather settings?

In per OS app data (Feather folder) rather than with wallets. Nodes, themes and recent wallets live there. Copy wallets separately; settings alone restore nothing.
