Where Does Football Manager 26 Store Saves and Graphics?

Football Manager 26 keeps saves, skins, graphics, and caches in a Sports Interactive folder under Documents. One tree for the whole game.

Last updated

Sports Interactive has used the same Documents folder for two decades, and FM26 continues it: one folder holding saves, tactics, skins, graphics, caches, and editor files. The game creates the tree on first launch, with each content type in its own subfolder. Mods in the FM sense are mostly graphics packs, skins, and data updates placed by type.

The cache folder deserves respect. Stale cache breaks new graphics in ways that look like bad downloads, so clearing it is step one of graphics troubleshooting. Keep custom tactics and views backed up separately, since those represent real hours nobody wants to recreate.

Where Football Manager 26 stores this, by platform

Windows
Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2026

Whole user data tree: saves in games, skins and graphics by type, cache for troubleshooting. Clear the cache folder when new graphics refuse to appear.

macOS
~/Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2026

Same tree layout as Windows under the Mac documents folder. Graphics and skins install identically across platforms.

Frequently asked questions

My graphics pack does not show. What should I check?

Clear the cache folder inside and reload the skin with caching off during setup. Facepacks and logos need the graphics subfolders plus a skin reload. Wrong folder nesting causes most silent failures.

What should I back up before a reinstall?

Copy the games subfolder for saves plus any custom tactics, views, and shortlists you edited. Skins and graphics reinstall from downloads, so saves and personal files matter most.
