Where Are Ghostrunner Save Files Located?

Ghostrunner splits saves between a save.data file and per-user SaveGames folders, and old demo files can wipe runs.

Last updated

Ghostrunner stores progress in two places inside its Local AppData folder: a central save.data file plus per-user subfolders under SaveGames. Both halves matter, so back up the whole Saved tree rather than cherry-picking files.

Demo players hit a real trap: leftover demo save folders can wipe the full game's progress on restart. If runs vanish after launch day, delete the demo-era folder named 0 from the save tree before assuming the worst. It is the single most reported save issue for the game.

Where Ghostrunner stores this, by platform

Windows
C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Local\Ghostrunner\Saved

save.data plus SaveGames per-user folders live here, with configs in Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor. Remove any demo leftover folder named 0 if saves disappear.

Linux
~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/1139900/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/Ghostrunner/Saved

Proton prefix for Steam Deck and Linux desktops, app ID 1139900. Same save.data plus SaveGames split inside.

Frequently asked questions

Why did Ghostrunner delete my progress?

Leftover demo saves are the usual cause. Delete the folder named 0 in the save tree with the game closed, then relaunch and check whether the run returns.

Where are Ghostrunner graphics settings?

In Saved/Config/WindowsNoEditor beside the saves. That folder also hosts the Engine.ini tweak that forces shader preloading against stutter.
