Where Does GoPro Player Store Cache and Exports?
Where GoPro Player keeps cache, converted exports and preferences on Windows and macOS.
Last updated
GoPro Player (with HyperSmooth Pro) plays HERO and MAX footage and exports Reframe edits to MP4. Exports go wherever you point the save dialog. There is no single media library folder.
The app itself keeps cache and preferences in standard OS locations. Cache holds thumbnails and conversion scratch data. If space runs low or playback misbehaves, the OS cache folder is the first place to look after closing Player.
Where GoPro Player stores this, by platform
%LOCALAPPDATA%\GoPro\GoPro Player
Exports save where you choose in the dialog, commonly Videos or a per project folder. Cache sits in LocalAppData. Check Player preferences if your build exposes a custom cache path.
~/Library/Caches/com.gopro.gopro-player
macOS build needs 10.14 or later. Preferences live under ~/Library/Preferences with a GoPro entry. Converted MP4 files play in any editor once exported.
Frequently asked questions
Where do GoPro Player exports go?
Pick the export folder yourself in the save dialog and note it. Player does not use a fixed exports folder. Reframe jobs default to wherever you last saved.
Is it safe to clear the GoPro cache?
Yes, as long as Player is closed. Cache rebuilds on next launch. If playback stutters after clearing, let thumbnails regenerate before judging speed.
