Where Does Cricut Design Space Store Files and Cache?
Where Cricut Design Space keeps its cache on Windows and Mac, and why your projects are mostly in the cloud.
Last updated
Design Space keeps the source of truth in your Cricut account. The local folder is a cache for offline content and previews. That is why clearing it fixes most loading bugs without deleting your projects. Sign back in and the library repopulates.
The local path is hidden by default on both systems. Windows hides AppData unless you show hidden items. Mac hides dot folders unless you press Command Shift Period or use Go to Folder. Do not treat LocalData as a backup. Use Save to Cloud and download offline copies for the projects you need at the machine.
Where Cricut Design Space stores this, by platform
%userprofile%\.cricut-design-space\LocalData
Cache and offline data live here. Delete the contents of LocalData to fix stuck loading. Your account library syncs back after sign in.
~/.cricut-design-space/LocalData
Same dot folder under your home. Paste ~/.cricut-design-space into Go to Folder. Clear LocalData, empty Trash, then Force Reload from the View menu.
Frequently asked questions
How do I clear the Design Space cache when it will not load?
Close Design Space fully, then delete everything inside LocalData. On Windows that folder is under your user profile. On Mac use Go to Folder with ~/.cricut-design-space. Relaunch and use View then Force Reload. Your cloud projects reload on sign in.
Are my projects stored locally or in the cloud?
Mostly cloud, with a local cache for offline copies you explicitly downloaded. The LocalData folder holds PNG previews and temp files, not clean SVGs you can move elsewhere. Design in Inkscape or Illustrator if you want portable source files, then upload to Design Space.
