Where Are Hades 2 Save Files Located?

Hades II save folder on Windows, macOS and Linux, which Profile files matter, and the missing folder trap that breaks Steam Cloud.

Last updated

Hades II keeps runs in ProfileN.sav files inside a Saved Games/Hades II folder on Windows. Mac uses a Supergiant Games folder under Application Support instead. Linux runs through Proton with the same Windows tree under compatdata 1145350.

The known trap is a missing local folder after reinstalls. Steam holds the cloud save but skips the sync silently when the target directory does not exist. Create Saved Games/Hades II by hand, restart Steam, and the cloud save downloads on next launch. Whitelisting the folder in antivirus prevents most Unable to Save warnings.

Where Hades II stores this, by platform

Windows
C:\Users\[Username]\Saved Games\Hades II

Not AppData. Paste %userprofile%\Saved Games\Hades II into Explorer. Profile1.sav is slot one. Copy the whole folder with the game closed.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/Supergiant Games/Hades II

Use Go > Go to Folder in Finder. Logs sit beside saves as Hades II.log, which support asks for with crash reports.

Linux
~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/1145350/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Saved Games/Hades II

Proton path for AppID 1145350. The Steam root varies, so search compatdata/1145350 for Hades II if your library moved drives.

Frequently asked questions

Steam Cloud is on but Hades II starts fresh, why?

The local Hades II folder is missing, so Steam skips the download without an error. Close everything, create Saved Games/Hades II manually, restart Steam, and launch the game once.

How do I recover a corrupted Hades II run?

Sort the folder by date and rename the newest Profile1_Temp.sav or .bak file to Profile1.sav with the game closed. Open the Play menu and check the slot before re-enabling Cloud.
