Where Does HTMLy Store Content?

HTMLy keeps posts, pages, and uploads under the content folder. Settings live in config as INI files.

Last updated

HTMLy is flat file. Everything you write lands under content in the install root. Blog posts, static pages, video posts, and uploads each have their own subfolder. There is no MySQL dump to worry about.

Site config lives in config as INI files. That includes site title, URL, and user settings. Back up content plus config and you can rebuild the site anywhere. Keep file permissions writable by the web user, and test a login after restore before announcing the move. Check the site URL setting after restore, since wrong base URLs break feeds and media links.

Where HTMLy stores this, by platform

Linux
/var/www/html/htmly/content

All posts, pages, and media. Copy recursively to preserve uploads. Keep ownership writable by the web user.

Linux
/var/www/html/htmly/config/config.ini

Site URL, title, and user settings. Back up alongside content. Edit config.ini after a domain change.

Frequently asked questions

how do i migrate htmly

Copy the content folder and config folder into the new HTMLy install. Use the same HTMLy version on both ends. Log in and resave settings if the base URL changed.

where are htmly uploads stored

Posts are .md files under content/username/blog. Uploads sit under content/uploads. A plain recursive copy preserves everything without a database dump.
