Where Are Hytale Save Files Located?
Hytale stores worlds in a UserData folder next to the install on Windows, with XDG and Flatpak save paths on Linux.
Last updated
Hytale keeps saves inside its own install tree rather than Documents or AppData. On Windows each install has a UserData folder with Saves for worlds and Settings.json for options. Find your install folder first (check the launcher for the path), then look inside it.
Linux follows the platform rules instead. The standard build uses the XDG data directory, while the Flatpak build uses its sandboxed data folder. The macOS save path is not documented on PCGamingWiki, so it is left out here rather than guessed. Back up the full UserData folder with the game closed.
Where Hytale stores this, by platform
<HytaleInstall>\UserData\Saves
Worlds live in the Saves subfolder. Settings.json sits one level up. The exact parent depends on where you installed the game, so confirm it in the launcher before copying anything.
~/.local/share/Hytale/UserData/Saves
Default for non-Flatpak installs. The Saves folder mirrors the Windows layout, with Settings.json alongside it.
~/.var/app/com.hypixel.HytaleLauncher/data/Hytale/UserData/Saves
Flatpak sandboxes the same tree under its own data directory. Use this path only if you installed the com.hypixel.HytaleLauncher Flatpak.
Frequently asked questions
How do I move my Hytale worlds to a new computer?
Copy the whole UserData folder to the same relative spot on the new machine. Worlds live in Saves and options in Settings.json, so the pair has to travel together.
Where is the Hytale config file?
Settings.json sits beside the Saves folder inside UserData. On Windows that means the install folder, on Linux the XDG or Flatpak data tree.
Does Hytale sync saves through Steam Cloud?
No. PCGamingWiki lists no cloud syncing for Hytale, so local backups are the only safety net. Server worlds live on the host, not on your client.
