Where Are Iconoclasts Save Files Located?

Where Iconoclasts keeps its numbered save slots on Windows, Mac and Linux, and why AppData holds nothing.

Last updated

Iconoclasts keeps saves in its own data folder instead of any user directory. Numbered slot files plus a point file and a binary settings file share the install tree on Windows and Linux. The Mac build nests the same tree inside the app bundle resources.

That design is deliberate, not a bug, so AppData searches always come up empty. Steam Cloud syncs the install adjacent files for backup. Installs under Program Files without admin rights redirect writes to the VirtualStore, which hides the live files from manual browsers.

Where Iconoclasts stores this, by platform

Windows
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Iconoclasts\data

Install adjacent saves with numbered slots plus point and settings files. No AppData copy exists. Watch for VirtualStore redirection on protected paths.

macOS
Iconoclasts.app/Contents/Resources/Data

Same save and settings set inside the app bundle resources. Reach it through Show Package Contents. Back up the whole data folder.

Linux
~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Iconoclasts/data

Same install adjacent saves that ignore XDG conventions. Copy the data folder between machines for moves. Cloud sync covers the same files.

Frequently asked questions

I searched AppData and found no Iconoclasts saves. Where are they?

Open the data folder inside the install tree or the Mac app bundle. Numbered save files plus the point and settings files sit there together. Back up the whole data folder with the game closed for a complete copy.

Iconoclasts hangs on a white screen on Windows 11. How do I fix it?

Open Windows graphics settings, add the game exe, and force the high performance GPU. Dual GPU laptops park the game on the weak chip and show a white hung window. Saves are unaffected and wait in the data folder.
