Where Are iPhone Call Recordings Saved?
iPhone call recordings save to the Notes app as dated Call Recording notes with audio plus transcript.
Last updated
Since iOS 18.1, the Phone and FaceTime apps offer call recording. Tap record during a call and everyone hears an announcement. When the call ends, audio and an auto transcript land in the Notes app as a note titled with the call date, inside the Call Recordings collection.
Notes is the storage, not Voice Memos and not Files. Open the note to play audio, read along with the transcript, copy text elsewhere, or share the audio out to Files. Transcription needs a supported device and language, while plain audio recording works more broadly.

Frequently asked questions
Where exactly do I find a recorded call?
Open Notes and look for the Call Recordings folder or a note titled with the call date. The note holds the audio player plus transcript and summary. Search in Notes also finds the transcript text.
Can the other person tell I am recording?
Yes. The iPhone plays an announcement to all participants when recording starts and stops, and shows an on-screen indicator with elapsed time. There is no silent mode for this feature.
