Where Does JDownloader Store Config and Downloads?
JDownloader keeps config in a cfg folder inside its install dir. The default install paths and what to back up.
Last updated
JDownloader stores settings inside its own install directory, in a subfolder named cfg. That folder holds accounts, download lists, link grabber state, and custom rules. There is no separate AppData profile.
On Windows the installer defaults to %LOCALAPPDATA%\JDownloader 2.0. On macOS and Linux the location is whatever you picked at install time. Downloads themselves go to a separate download directory set in Settings, not into cfg.
Where JDownloader stores this, by platform
%LOCALAPPDATA%\JDownloader 2.0\cfg
Stock installer path. The cfg subfolder inside it is the full config backup: settings, accounts, download and linkgrabber lists. Downloads land in the separate download directory from Settings.
~/JDownloader 2.0/cfg
No fixed system path; it is the folder you installed into. Look for JDownloader.jar, then open the cfg subfolder next to it. Same backup rule applies: copy cfg while the app is closed.
~/JDownloader 2.0/cfg
Same pattern as Linux: the install folder you chose, plus cfg inside. Use Help, About JDownloader to reveal the install directory without guessing.
Frequently asked questions
how do i back up jdownloader settings
Close JDownloader, copy the cfg folder out of the install dir, and keep it somewhere safe. That folder holds settings, accounts, link lists, and EventScripter scripts. Restore by swapping it into a fresh install.
how do i find my jdownloader install folder
Open Help, then About JDownloader, and hover the Installation directory row. Clicking it opens the folder directly. If that fails, search the disk for JDownloader.jar; its folder is the install dir.
