Where Does Libro.fm Store Offline Audiobooks?

Libro.fm DRM-free downloads in app storage plus portable MP3 files.

Last updated

Libro.fm sells DRM-free audiobooks that support indie bookstores, and downloads play two ways. Inside the app they cache in private storage for offline listening with bookmarks and sleep timer. From the website the same titles download as plain MP3 or M4B files to keep forever.

The library itself (purchases, membership credits, playlists) belongs to the account. App cache is per device and disposable. Computer downloads are the real archive: import them into any player and they survive app deletions, store shutdowns and phone upgrades alike.

Where Libro.fm stores this, by platform

Android
App-private storage (offline cache; portable files via website downloads)

In-app downloads for offline with position sync. For permanent copies, download MP3/M4B from the website library into Downloads and move them to backup. Credits and purchases restore on sign in.

iOS
App sandbox (offline cache; portable files via computer)

Same account library on iPhone with CarPlay and offline mode. Side-load website files through Files or a computer for a second player. Deleting the app drops cache, never purchases.

Frequently asked questions

can I keep Libro.fm audiobooks outside the app

Yes. Download the DRM-free MP3 or M4B from your website library and store it anywhere. Those files play in any audiobook player and need no account afterward.

do Libro.fm downloads survive reinstalling

Purchases and credits do; the offline cache does not. Sign back in to restore the shelf, then redownload for offline or copy back your website files.
