Where Does LightCut Save Exports and Drafts?

LightCut keeps drafts inside the app and writes finished videos to the gallery and Photos library.

Last updated

LightCut drafts live inside the app until export. Timelines, templates in progress, and imported clips sit in private storage, visible only through the editor.

Finished videos leave through export into the gallery or Photos library. That exported file is the archive; the draft is the workspace. Export keepers before clearing space, since draft deletion is permanent and silent.

Where LightCut stores this, by platform

Android
Gallery (exports); in-app drafts

Drafts and timelines stay in app-private storage. Export finished videos to the gallery; clearing app data deletes unexported drafts.

iOS
Photos app (exports); in-app drafts

Same split: drafts inside the app, finished videos in Photos. Save exports to Files as well for edits worth archiving.

Frequently asked questions

How do I keep an edit when switching phones?

Finish and export it first. The exported video in the gallery survives anything, while the draft timeline dies with the app data.
