Where Does Lire Store Feeds and Full-Text Cache?

Lire RSS library, iCloud sync and full-text article cache on iPhone and Mac.

Last updated

Lire keeps its library in app private storage, synced through iCloud when you run standalone. There is no feed file to find in Files. Feeds, folders and the converted full text cache all live inside that sandbox. Once cached, articles read offline with no connection.

Service users bypass most of that. With Feedly, Inoreader, Miniflux, FreshRSS, Feedbin, NewsBlur and the rest, the server holds the subscriptions and Lire mirrors them. OPML is the portable layer in both modes: import by opening an .opml in Lire, export via Generate OPML and email or save it.

Where Lire stores this, by platform

iOS
App sandbox and iCloud (OPML via Settings)

Standalone library plus optional service sync. Rebuild full text with Settings > Caching Options > Cache All Uncached. Apple Intelligence summaries appear on iOS 26 devices. The developer collects no data from the app.

macOS
App sandbox and iCloud (Mac app)

Same services and cache model as iOS in the separate Mac build. Large OPML imports take a while on first launch. Image caching crashes usually clear up by caching in smaller batches.

Frequently asked questions

how do I move Lire feeds to a new iPhone

Sign into the same Apple ID and let iCloud sync the standalone library, or just sign into the same feed service on the new phone. For a clean handoff, export OPML in Settings, save it to Files, then open it in Lire on the new device.

where is the full-text cache in Lire

Inside the app sandbox, managed from Settings > Caching Options. Cache All Uncached converts partial feeds to full articles for offline reading. It grows with image heavy feeds, so prune dead subscriptions yearly.
