Where Does Marvis Store Settings and Library Data?

Marvis Pro iOS settings, artwork cache and why music stays in Apple Music.

Last updated

Marvis holds no music of its own. It is a front end over your Apple Music and iTunes library, so songs, playlists and downloads stay in the Music app and Apple servers. What Marvis stores is presentation: layouts, sort rules, smart filters, themes, icon choices and Last.fm credentials.

That makes reinstalls painless and also lossy in one specific way. Signing in again restores the music instantly, but custom sections and rules must be rebuilt unless you kept screenshots or notes. The stock Music app must stay installed; Marvis cannot function or delete library items without it.

iOS
App sandbox (settings and artwork cache)

Grid layouts, Smart Rules, sort and group choices plus cached artwork. No audio files inside. Back up by documenting custom home sections; there is no settings export. Last.fm scrobble log lives under Marvis Settings.

Frequently asked questions

where is my music if Marvis shows an empty library

In the Music app and iCloud Music Library, not in Marvis. Open Music, confirm the library loaded and you are signed in, then relaunch Marvis. Deleted Apple Music content never comes back through Marvis alone.

how do I move Marvis to a new iPhone

Install Marvis, open the Music app first so the library syncs, then rebuild home sections and rules by hand. Playlists and play counts follow the Apple ID. Custom Marvis layouts do not transfer automatically.
