Where Does Maschine Store Projects and Libraries?
Maschine saves user Projects, Groups and Sounds under Documents/Native Instruments, with factory content in shared folders.
Last updated
Maschine splits user content from factory content. Your Projects, Groups and Sounds default to Documents/Native Instruments/Maschine 2, a path users keep mistaking for the install library. Factory libraries and expansions install to the shared Native Access content location instead, alongside Kontakt content.
The Browser only shows folders registered on the Preferences > Library page, so moved files vanish until paths update there. Importing from the Files pane references in place rather than copying. Relocate factory libraries through Native Access like any NI product; move user projects with plain file copies and re-register the folders.
Where Maschine stores this, by platform
C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\Native Instruments\Maschine 2
Projects, Groups and Sounds by default. Factory content under C:\Users\Public\Public Documents per Native Access. Re-register moved folders in Preferences > Library.
~/Documents/Native Instruments/Maschine 2
Same user-content role. Factory libraries default to /Users/Shared. Maschine+ hardware uses Native Instruments/Maschine 2/Projects on its SD card.
Frequently asked questions
Where are my Maschine projects saved?
In Projects under Documents/Native Instruments/Maschine 2 unless you saved elsewhere. Groups and Sounds sit in sibling folders. The Browser's User section reflects exactly these registered paths.
Moved my samples and Maschine lost them, how do I fix it?
Open Preferences > Library and update the folder paths to the new locations, then rescan. Importing references files in place, so every move needs its registration refreshed. Keep factory and user trees on the same drive letter or mount.
