Where Are METAL EDEN Save Files Located?
METAL EDEN save and config folders on PC, and why the Logs subfolder can quietly eat gigabytes of drive space.
Last updated
METAL EDEN is an Unreal Engine shooter, so everything sits under a MetalEden folder in Local AppData. Saves, settings, crash logs and screenshots share that one tree. Backing up is simple: one folder covers the lot.
Watch the Logs subfolder. A logging bug made the game write enormous log files for some players, filling drives without warning. If free space vanishes after installing the game, check that folder first and delete the logs while the game is closed.
Where METAL EDEN stores this, by platform
C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Local\MetalEden\Saved
SaveGames holds progress, Config holds settings, Logs holds the runaway log files. Deleting logs is safe as long as the game is not running.
~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/990380/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/MetalEden/Saved
Proton prefix for Steam Deck and Linux desktops, app ID 990380. The same Logs cleanup applies here if Deck storage runs short.
Frequently asked questions
Why is METAL EDEN using so much disk space?
Check Saved/Logs inside the MetalEden folder. A known logging bug wrote multi-gigabyte log files for some players. Delete them with the game closed and the space comes back.
How do I back up METAL EDEN saves?
Copy the whole Saved folder elsewhere. SaveGames carries progress and Config carries settings, so grabbing both preserves everything including graphics options.
