Where Are Mina the Hollower Save Files Located?
Mina the Hollower keeps its saveData.yc file in a Yacht Club Games folder, with Steam Cloud in userdata.
Last updated
Mina the Hollower stores progress in a single file called saveData.yc inside a Yacht Club Games folder. Reports differ on whether that folder sits in Local or Roaming AppData, and the honest answer is to check both: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Yacht Club Games\Mina the Hollower and %APPDATA%\Yacht Club Games\Mina the Hollower. The Steam build adds a cloud copy under userdata for App ID 1875580.
Mac and Linux builds use their own homes for the same file, under Application Support and .local/share respectively. Whatever the platform, always launch through Steam itself. Opening the exe directly creates a competing local save that Cloud later stomps.
Where Mina the Hollower stores this, by platform
%APPDATA%\Yacht Club Games\Mina the Hollower
Check both Local and Roaming variants; builds disagree. Contains saveData.yc plus the automatic saveData.bak.yc backup. Always launch via the Steam client.
~/Library/Application Support/Yacht Club Games/Mina the Hollower
Same saveData.yc layout. Use Go to Folder in Finder since Library is hidden.
~/.local/share/Yacht Club Games/Mina the Hollower
Same single-file layout as the other builds.
Frequently asked questions
My save is corrupted. Is there an automatic backup?
Look for saveData.bak.yc next to saveData.yc. The game writes this automatic backup itself. Delete the broken file and rename the .bak copy to saveData.yc with the game closed.
Steam Cloud keeps overwriting my local progress. How do I fix it?
Copy saveData.yc from the local folder into the Steam remote folder with Steam closed, launch through the Steam client (not the exe directly), and let Cloud adopt it. Launching the exe directly is what causes the overwrite loop.
