Where Does Motrix Store Settings and Tasks?

Motrix keeps settings.json and the aria2 session in Electron userData. The per OS roots and key files.

Last updated

Motrix stores app data in its Electron userData folder: %APPDATA%\Motrix on Windows, ~/Library/Application Support/Motrix on macOS, ~/.config/Motrix on Linux. Settings live in settings.json there, with the aria2 task session in aria2.db and torrents under torrents/.

Logs rotate at logs/motrix.log and media temp work lands in the OS temp dir. The portable zip still writes to the same userData path, since it is only installerless, not fenced. Back up settings.json plus aria2.db to migrate tasks and prefs together.

Where Motrix stores this, by platform

Windows
%APPDATA%\Motrix

settings.json, aria2.db, torrents, plugins, logs inside. Portable builds use this same folder. Engine download dir itself is separate in Settings.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/Motrix

Same file set in Application Support. CLI bridge endpoint at bridge/endpoint.json. Finder hides ~/Library, so use Go to Folder.

Linux
~/.config/Motrix

Same layout under XDG config home. Credentials for the CLI sit in ~/.config/motrix/credentials.json with mode 600.
