Where Does Mountain Duck Store Bookmarks?
Mountain Duck keeps bookmarks and profiles beside its app data, with passwords in the system keychain instead.
Last updated
Mountain Duck stores saved connections as bookmark files in a Bookmarks folder under its app data. History and custom connection profiles sit beside them. Passwords stay out of these files in the system keychain, so exports share safely.
The two macOS builds cause most missing bookmark reports. Website and App Store installs sandbox differently, which strands files when you switch. Windows keeps one Roaming tree regardless of installer, which makes that side simpler to back up.
Where Mountain Duck stores this, by platform
~/Library/Application Support/Mountain Duck/Bookmarks
Bookmarks and Profiles here for the website build. Finder hides Library, so use Go to Folder. App Store builds nest the same tree under Containers, so check there after build switches.
%APPDATA%\Mountain Duck\Bookmarks
Same bookmark files under Roaming. Paste the path into Explorer to jump there. Mounted favorites cache credentials through the Windows Credential Manager instead.
Frequently asked questions
How do I move Mountain Duck bookmarks to a new machine?
Copy the Bookmarks folder to the same path on the new machine with Mountain Duck closed. Profiles travel with it for custom connection types. Reconnect once so the keychain prompts restore passwords.
Why did my Mountain Duck bookmarks vanish?
Check the other build location. Website and App Store builds keep separate trees, and switching strands files on the old side. Search both Application Support paths before recreating anything.
