Where Are Spintires: MudRunner Save Files Located?

Original MudRunner saves in a Roaming SpinTires folder, unlike SnowRunner Documents layout. Paths per store.

Last updated

The original MudRunner stores saves nothing like its successors. While SnowRunner and Expeditions use Documents/My Games trees, the 2017 game keeps everything in Roaming AppData under SpinTires MudRunner. UserSaves holds progress with a UserProfile file beside it that resets everything when deleted.

Store builds rename the folder. Epic uses a shorter MudRunner name, and the Microsoft Store uses a packaged LocalCache path. The Steam app ID is 675010, which also disambiguates it from the 2014 Spintires and from Mortal Kombat X sharing a coincidental number in bad guides.

Where Spintires: MudRunner stores this, by platform

Windows
%APPDATA%\SpinTires MudRunner\UserSaves

Progress plus UserProfile.stu beside it; deleting the profile resets. Epic builds use %APPDATA%\MudRunner instead. Store builds use a FocusHomeInteractiveSA package LocalCache Roaming path. Do not confuse with SnowRunner Documents layout.

Linux
<SteamLibrary>/steamapps/compatdata/675010/pfx/

Steam Play prefix for app ID 675010 (not 307780, which is an unrelated title). The Roaming tree above is mirrored inside the prefix. Cloud copies land under userdata/<user-id>/675010.

Frequently asked questions

Do MudRunner and SnowRunner share saves?

No. Original MudRunner uses Roaming SpinTires MudRunner while SnowRunner uses Documents My Games SnowRunner, with different engines and formats. Copying across titles does nothing, so back up each tree separately.

How do I reset MudRunner progress?

Delete UserProfile.stu beside the UserSaves folder with the game closed. That clears the profile while leaving the folder structure intact. Keep a copy first when the reset is experimental rather than final.

Where are Epic and Store saves?

Epic uses Roaming MudRunner without the SpinTires prefix. The Store build uses its packaged LocalCache Roaming MudRunnerWinStore path. Steam uses the full SpinTires MudRunner name, so match the folder to your store.
