Where Does Muse from Meta Store Data?

Muse from Meta runs its agent work in Meta's cloud, so the phone stores only cache and session files in the app's private storage.

Last updated

Muse from Meta is Meta's AI agent app, and it has lived near the top of the US free charts since launching in September 2026. The design is cloud-first: the agent works against your account and its data lives on Meta's side, while the phone app streams context back and forth.

Practically, that means there is no local project or conversation file to find. What accumulates on the device is cache: media, responses and session state in storage the operating system hides from file managers. Backups and device changes run through your account, not through copying folders.

Where Muse from Meta stores this, by platform

Android
/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.facebook.aura

Scoped storage for the app, from the Play listing's package name. The private half at /data/data/com.facebook.aura holds the actual session and cache data and needs root to browse. Clearing app data signs you out and empties caches, never the account-side data.

iOS
/var/mobile/Containers/Data/Application/<guid>

The app's container in the iOS sandbox, where the guid changes per install and is not worth typing by hand. The iPhone Storage screen is the practical view. Offloading keeps some data; deleting removes only what is local.

Frequently asked questions

Can I export Muse conversations to a file?

There is no local conversation file to export. Sessions live with your Meta account in the cloud and the app is a client for them, so switching devices is a matter of signing in, not copying data.

Why is Muse using so much phone storage?

Cached media and session data in app storage. Clearing the cache in the app or through system storage settings frees it without touching your account data, which lives on Meta's servers.

Does uninstalling Muse delete my agent tasks?

No. The work happens cloud-side under your account. Reinstalling and signing in brings the app back to your data, minus the local cache, which gets rebuilt on demand.
