Where Does Whatnot Store App Data?
Whatnot keeps orders, payments and shop data on its servers. App storage holds only cache and session files on Android and iPhone.
Last updated
Whatnot turned live auctions into one of the biggest shopping apps in the US and the UK, and it has stayed near the top of UK charts through October 2026. The app is live video plus commerce, and both halves run server-side: streams come from Whatnot's infrastructure, and orders, payments and seller data live with your account.
On the device you get a video cache and a session. That is the whole local story. Order confirmations are visible under your orders when signed in, and purchase emails double as receipts, so there is no need to hunt for files when a record is needed.
Where Whatnot stores this, by platform
/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.whatnot_mobile
Scoped storage for the app, per the Google Play listing; live video caching is what makes it grow. The private half at /data/data/com.whatnot_mobile needs root. Clearing data signs you out and clears the cache, and everything account-related comes back on sign-in.
/var/mobile/Containers/Data/Application/<guid>
The app's container in the iOS sandbox, where the guid changes per install. Live shopping sessions stream from the network rather than storing locally, so the container mostly tracks cache. Use the iPhone Storage screen to check its footprint.
Frequently asked questions
Where are my Whatnot order receipts stored?
On Whatnot's servers, viewable under your orders in the app or on the website. The app keeps no receipts folder locally, and purchase confirmations also arrive by email, which is the easiest record to keep.
Why is Whatnot using so much storage?
Cached live video and images accumulate in app storage. Clear the cache from inside the app or through system settings. Orders, messages and shop data are server-side and unaffected by clearing cache.
Does deleting the Whatnot app remove my shop or purchase history?
No. Everything tied to your account comes back when you reinstall and sign in. What is lost is only the local cache, which the app rebuilds as you browse.
