Where Does MX Player Store Downloads?

MX Player streaming downloads stay encrypted inside the app under My Downloads. Your own files play from anywhere.

Last updated

MX Player has two personalities sharing one icon. The player opens video files already on your phone from any folder. The streaming side saves shows for offline watching into protected app storage you reach through My Downloads, never through a file manager.

That split is licensing, not design laziness. Streamed titles are encrypted per device and vanish if you uninstall or if the title leaves the catalogue. Anything you can browse to in Files is yours to copy, move, and back up freely.

In-app: My Downloads (app-private storage)

Streaming downloads live here in protected form and cannot be copied out or played in other apps. Reach them from the download icon or navigation menu > My downloads under your profile. Your own video files play from any SD card or internal folder via the Folder view.

Frequently asked questions

Can I copy MX Player downloads to my computer?

No. Offline streaming titles are stored encrypted inside the app and only play there. They disappear on uninstall. If you need a file on your PC, download the source video separately rather than through the streaming catalogue.

Where do I find videos I saved from the web in MX Player?

Use the download icon in the player after opening the link, then look in My Downloads. Titles need a visible download arrow. If no title shows one, the streaming catalogue is not offered in your region.
