Where Does MyInfo Store Notebooks and Backups?

MyInfo stores each notebook as a separate file wherever you save it, with automatic backups beside the original.

Last updated

MyInfo has no database to hunt down. Each notebook is its own file on your disk, saved wherever you chose in the save dialog. Sections, notes, tags, and attachments all travel inside that one file.

Backups follow the same logic. MyInfo writes automatic copies on a schedule you control under Tools, Options, Save and Backup, defaulting to two copies a day apart. Copies land next to the notebook, staying in its own folder to avoid clashes between same-named notebooks kept in different places.

Notebook files live wherever you saved them, not in a fixed app folder. See Tools > Options > Save and Backup for the backup count, interval, and template folder paths. To move machines, copy the notebook files and open them with File > Open.

Frequently asked questions

How do I restore a MyInfo backup?

Use File, Open Backup, pick the copy, and press Revert To This Backup. Backups sit beside the notebook file by default. Check the backup interval in Tools, Options, Save and Backup if the newest copy is older than you expected.

How do I move MyInfo to a new computer?

Copy your notebook files to the new machine and open them there. That is the whole migration. Bring any custom template folder contents too, since those live separately. Reinstalling MyInfo itself touches none of your data.
