Where Does Navicat Store Connections and Profiles?

Navicat splits connection secrets from workspace profiles, with per-OS homes on Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Last updated

Navicat keeps two kinds of data in two places. Connection credentials go to the registry on Windows, a plist on Mac, or a JSON file on Linux. Everything you build, queries, backups, batch jobs, workspaces, goes to profile folders you can locate from inside the app.

Do not go hunting in Explorer first. Right-click a connection, choose Edit Connection, Advanced, and read its Settings Location. For all saved profiles at once, open Tools, Options, File Locations. Those two dialogs always show the true paths even if you moved them.

Where Navicat stores this, by platform

Windows
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PremiumSoft

Connection credentials live in this registry hive. Saved profiles (queries, backups, batch jobs, workspaces) live under the Profiles Location shown in Tools > Options > File Locations. Per-connection overrides show at right-click > Edit Connection > Advanced > Settings Location.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/PremiumSoft CyberTech/Navicat CC/Navicat Premium/Profiles

Saved profiles for Navicat Premium. Connection info lives separately in the Common folder as conn.plist. Other editions use their own folder under Navicat CC. Confirm yours under Tools > Options > File Locations.

Linux
~/.config/navicat/Premium/Profiles

Same split: profiles here, connection secrets in ~/.config/navicat/Common/connections.json. Per-connection overrides show under right-click > Edit Connection > Advanced > Settings Location.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move Navicat to a new computer?

Use File, Export Connections to save everything to a .ncx file, copy it over, and Import Connections on the new machine. That beats copying raw config files, which differ between Windows, Mac, and Linux anyway.

Where is one specific connection's data?

Right-click it, pick Edit Connection, then Advanced, and read Settings Location. Navicat creates a subfolder per connection there for its backups, queries, and import or export profiles. The global Profiles Location under Tools, Options covers shared batch jobs.
