Where Does Redis Insight Store Data and Settings?
Redis Insight keeps its SQLite database, settings, and logs in a .redisinsight-app folder in your home directory.
Last updated
Desktop Redis Insight stores nearly everything in a dot folder in your home directory: the SQLite database with connections and workbench history, plus a logs subfolder. Copy that folder and your setup follows you.
The desktop app serves itself on 127.0.0.1 port 5530 by default, which is just how the Electron shell talks to its own backend. Docker installs are the exception. They keep data under /data instead, and support an encryption key variable the desktop build ignores.
Where Redis Insight stores this, by platform
%USERPROFILE%\.redisinsight-app
SQLite database plus logs subfolder. Copy the whole folder with the app closed to migrate. Connection strings preconfigured through RI_ environment variables are re-added at launch and vanish if the variables are removed.
~/.redisinsight-app
Same layout as Windows and Linux. Logs sit in ~/.redisinsight-app/logs. A plain copy of the folder is a complete backup.
~/.redisinsight-app
Home dot folder, same contents. Docker deployments use /data instead, configured through RI_ prefixed environment variables from the Redis Insight configuration reference.
Frequently asked questions
How do I back up my Redis Insight connections?
Copy the .redisinsight-app folder from your home directory with the app closed. It holds the SQLite database with connections, passwords, and workbench history. Paste it into place on the new machine before launching.
Where are Redis Insight logs?
In the logs subfolder of .redisinsight-app on desktop installs, or /data/logs in Docker. File logging is on by default. Check there first when the UI shows a blank screen or a connection that hangs.
