Where Does Paperback Store Manga and Sources?
Paperback iOS library, downloaded chapters and extension sources on device.
Last updated
Paperback keeps everything on device: the library index, downloaded chapters for offline reading, tracker bindings (AniList, Komga) and the source extensions that fetch online manga. Komga and other servers are browsed remotely, but reading copies download into the sandbox.
Sources are the fragile part. Third party extensions can vanish when sites change, leaving downloaded chapters orphaned under uninstalled entries you cannot delete from inside the app. Treat downloads as temporary and the server (or a backup) as permanent. The app carries no bundled manga of its own.

App sandbox (library, downloads and sources)
Ad free Komga client with TypeScript extension API. Downloaded manga reads offline with custom themes. If an uninstalled source blocks deletion, reinstall a matching extension or clear the app and re-add servers.
Frequently asked questions
how do I back up Paperback manga
There is no file export for the library. Keep the source servers (Komga, trackers) as the master and re-add them on a new phone. Downloads are a convenience cache, not an archive, and orphaned ones may need an app reset.
why can't I delete downloaded manga in Paperback
The source extension that provided it is gone or uninstalled. Install a working version of that source, delete the chapters, then remove the source. When nothing matches, resetting the app and re-adding servers is the reliable fix.
