Where Does Pinokio Store Apps and Models?
Pinokio keeps everything inside one pinokio home folder: apps in api, shared tools in bin, models beside them.
Last updated
Pinokio isolates itself. Everything lives under a single home folder, ~/pinokio by default (C:\Users\<you>\pinokio on Windows). Downloaded apps go in api, shared runtimes like Python and ffmpeg in bin, caches in cache, shared model drives in drive, and per-app logs in logs.
You pick the home location at first setup and can change it later from settings. Disk usage concentrates in api and drive, since each AI app brings its own models and environments. Deleting an app is deleting its api subfolder, nothing more.
Where Pinokio stores this, by platform
~/pinokio
api/ holds apps, bin/ shared tools, cache/ temp files, drive/ shared models, logs/ per-app logs. The settings page shows the active home path.
~/pinokio
Same api/bin/cache/drive/logs layout. Change the home from the settings tab; the app copies contents to the new place.
C:\Users\[username]\pinokio
Same layout under your user profile. The Electron config file under AppData Roaming Pinokio holds the home key for manual moves.
Frequently asked questions
Pinokio is eating my disk. What can I delete?
Start with the cache folder, which repopulates on demand. Then check api for apps you no longer use and drive for shared models. Model weights dwarf everything else, so one unused image app can free tens of gigabytes.
Can I move the pinokio folder to another drive?
Yes, set the new home in Pinokio settings and let it copy, or edit the home key in the app config file. Reinstalling fresh to the new location is the reliable fallback when moved apps break their paths.
